Tsunami through the eyes of eyewitness ↝ Panic and defenselessness

📢 This was a little one, but still a tsunami, still lives in danger. And we are still interested in why there was no alarm. The alarm was not set. Even though all the countries had the alarm, here in Peru, they said that there was no tsunami, there was no alarm. - says Jose Rosario, an eyewitness to the tsunami that struck Peru's coast on January 15, 2022.

🆘 On January 14, 2022, the Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Haapai eruption began. The eruption triggered tsunamis that were seen across Tonga, Fiji, and American Samoa; Damage due to the tsunami was reported in New Zealand, the United States, Chile, and Peru.The tsunami was triggered by the Tonga volcano. There were fatalities and missing people.

👉 When it hit, I was here. I was down there in the street at the moment. I was buying an ice cream right here outside.

🌊 And then I started hearing the people yelling. So, I went to the corner and then I saw people running and I started seeing the sea coming, you know, growing up. Because it's not like a big wave coming, like in movies, it's like a big tide. The sea was inflating and just entering the little town. But all the people were on the beach and there on the beach, there were some sailboats, some little things here and there. So it was wiping everything off.

People were so scared, they thought that the world was going away. They didn't know what to do.

⚠️ They were completely disoriented. And it's a normal thing for humans when they get a very strong emotional impact or something… your brain stops somehow. And this is what I saw. People didn't know what to do. They were just looking for their kids and trying to go into the stores. And that was a completely, completely wrong thing. They had to go out on the streets and run away.

📍 …unity, you know, it's so important. Because one of the problems is that when you want to do something by yourself, you will not make a real difference, only united with others, you will make a difference.
